How to update device drivers?

  • 0
  • 0

My computer has been facing issues like slow performance, hardware errors, and occasional device problems, and I’ve heard that outdated drivers might be the reason.

I want to understand how to properly update device drivers on a Windows computer, which drivers should be updated regularly, and what is the safest method to avoid compatibility or system issues during the update process.

Updating device drivers helps improve system performance, fix bugs, and ensure hardware compatibility. On Windows, open Device Manager, select the device, right-click, and choose “Update driver.” You can let Windows search automatically or download the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s official website. For graphics cards, tools like NVIDIA GeForce Experience or AMD Software can simplify updates. Always create a restore point before major driver updates to avoid issues. Keeping drivers updated helps your PC run smoothly and securely.

I had the same issue on my PC before, so I will going to share what worked for me.

You can update drivers safely like this:

      – Open Device Manager
      – Right-click the device causing issues → Update driver
      – Click Search automatically for drivers

      If the problem continues:

      – Go to your laptop/PC brand website (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.)
      – Download official drivers from there

From experience, updating these helps most:

      – Graphics driver
      – Chipset driver
      – WiFi / network driver

Also avoid third-party “driver updater” tools — they often cause more problems than they fix.

      Hope this helps!
