I recently switched from Llama 2 to Llama 3, and I’m now getting nothing but 502 Bad Gateway errors. The previous model works fine, but this one consistently times out at the 300-second mark despite my retry logic.
Is there a way to extend the API timeout or a specific configuration to prevent these gateway failures?

– Increase API/gateway timeout (300s is too low for Llama 3 in many cases)
– Reduce max tokens or prompt size
– Use streaming instead of waiting for full response
– Check GPU load / queue saturation
– Make sure your retry logic has backoff (not instant retries)
In most cases, Llama 3 is just slower → so the request exceeds timeout and returns 502.
