How to recall an email in outlook after sending it?

I accidentally sent an email in Outlook and want to know if it’s possible to recall or unsend it after it has been delivered. What are the steps to recall an email in Outlook, and are there any requirements or limitations I should be aware of? Please explain how the recall feature works and what happens if the recipient has already opened the message.

I’ve had to do this before, and Outlook does have a recall feature, but it only works under certain conditions. To recall an email, I open the Sent Items folder, double-click the message I want to retrieve, and then select the option to recall the message. Outlook will usually give me the choice to either delete unread copies of the email or replace it with a corrected version.

One thing I’ve learned is that email recall isn’t guaranteed to work. It works best when both the sender and recipient are using Outlook within the same organization and the recipient hasn’t opened the message yet. If the email has already been read or is being accessed through a different email service, the recall may fail.

Because of these limitations, I always check the recall status afterward and, if necessary, send a follow-up email to clarify or correct the original message.
