How to turn off restricted mode on YouTube?

Hey guys, my YouTube suddenly locked itself into Restricted Mode out of nowhere, and now it’s treating me like a fragile toddler. Half the videos I try to click on are blocked and I can’t even read the comment section anymore.

Where the heck is the actual toggle to turn this off? I’ve scavenged my settings and can’t find it anywhere. Help an adult out!

Yeah this usually happens when Restricted Mode gets turned on somehow or gets locked by network settings.

      You can try this:

click your profile icon on YouTube → scroll down to “Restricted Mode” → toggle it off. On desktop it’s also sometimes under Settings → General.

If you don’t see the option or it’s greyed out, it’s usually being forced by your browser, school/work Wi-Fi, or admin controls. In that case, switching network or checking Chrome/Google account restrictions usually fixes it.
