I want to know whether PS3 games are compatible with a PS4 console before buying, downloading, or trying to play them.
From what I have seen, you can’t play PS3 games directly on a PS4. PS3 game discs and most digital PS3 games aren’t compatible with the PS4 because the two consoles use different hardware.
If I wanted to play PS3 games, I’d either use my old PS3 or check if the game is available through PlayStation Plus Premium for cloud streaming. So, if you’re buying a PS4 mainly to play PS3 games, it’s worth knowing that it won’t support them natively.
