I went through the same thing with my MacBook after a few years of use. What helped me most was cleaning up storage, reducing the number of apps that launch at startup, and keeping macOS updated. I also noticed a big improvement after closing browser tabs I no longer needed and removing apps that I rarely used.
My advice would be to start by checking your storage and making sure you have plenty of free space available. Then review your login items and disable anything that doesn’t need to start automatically. If you haven’t restarted your Mac in a while, doing so can also help clear temporary processes and free up memory.
If your MacBook still feels sluggish, opening Activity Monitor can show which apps are using the most CPU or RAM. In some cases, upgrading the SSD or RAM (on older models that support upgrades) can make a dramatic difference. Regular maintenance, such as deleting unnecessary files, updating software, and keeping startup programs to a minimum, can go a long way toward keeping your MacBook running smoothly for years.
