Screen flickering can happen because of a loose cable, wrong refresh rate, outdated graphics driver, faulty app, power issue, or display hardware problem.
First, check the display cable and reconnect it properly. If you use a laptop, try connecting it to an external monitor to see if the issue is with the laptop screen or the graphics system.
Also check the refresh rate from:
Settings > System > Display > Advanced display
Set it to the recommended value. Then update your graphics driver from Device Manager or the official GPU website. If the flickering started after a driver update, roll back the driver.
You can also open Task Manager using Ctrl + Shift + Esc. If Task Manager flickers too, the issue is likely with the display driver or hardware. If Task Manager does not flicker, then a third-party app may be causing the problem.
Quick fixes:
Restart the computer, reconnect the display cable, set the correct refresh rate, update or roll back the graphics driver, and uninstall any recently installed suspicious app.
If none of these steps work, the issue may be with the monitor, laptop screen, internal display cable, or GPU, so it is better to get it checked by a technician.
