Screen flickering can happen because of a loose cable, wrong refresh rate, outdated graphics driver, faulty app, power issue, or display hardware problem.

First, check the display cable and reconnect it properly. If you use a laptop, try connecting it to an external monitor to see if the issue is with the laptop screen or the graphics system.

Also check the refresh rate from:

Settings > System > Display > Advanced display

Set it to the recommended value. Then update your graphics driver from Device Manager or the official GPU website. If the flickering started after a driver update, roll back the driver.

You can also open Task Manager using Ctrl + Shift + Esc. If Task Manager flickers too, the issue is likely with the display driver or hardware. If Task Manager does not flicker, then a third-party app may be causing the problem.

      Quick fixes:

Restart the computer, reconnect the display cable, set the correct refresh rate, update or roll back the graphics driver, and uninstall any recently installed suspicious app.

If none of these steps work, the issue may be with the monitor, laptop screen, internal display cable, or GPU, so it is better to get it checked by a technician.

A flickering screen is usually caused by a loose connection, a software glitch, or an incorrect setting. Here are the quickest ways to fix it:

One. Unplug your HDMI or DisplayPort cable from both the back of your computer and the monitor, then plug it back in firmly. A slightly loose cable causes instant flickering. If you have a spare cable lying around, swap it out to see if the old one is failing.

Two. If you are on Windows, press Windows Key + Ctrl + Shift + B all at the same time. Your screen will blink and make a quick beep sound. This instantly restarts your graphics software and often stops random blinking.

Three. Plug a completely different device (like a gaming console or a different laptop) into the monitor. If it still flickers, your monitor’s internal hardware is likely failing and needs to be replaced. If the flickering stops, your computer’s graphics card or software is the issue and needs an update.

      Also try these steps:

Windows: Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and ensure your refresh rate is set to a standard number your monitor supports (usually 60 Hz).

Mac: Go to System Settings > Displays and check the Refresh Rate dropdown.
